Take Two for Horseshoe Lake.
We hiked in directly from our campsite, so this was one of the blessed few days where we didn’t need to drive or move the van at all.
The ice had melted a bit and we had our bear spray and microspikes on. It was on!
Beautiful trail. The lack of maintenance over the winter lent a wildness to it.
Partially frozen rivers, frozen lakes, feet deep piles of snow.
Some interesting animal tracks and droppings.
There was a mostly eaten animal, maybe a rabbit, seemed relatively fresh.
Alas, the only living creatures we saw were arctic ground squirrels. Noisy and cute.
